Barn Painting Art (outdoor murals)

Outdoor Murals, have always caught my eye and thought what a talent it is to paint one, but I haven't seen any in Lancaster County; at least until I caught this one recently as I was looking for covered bridges. Any more I come across I will certainly update this hub page.

Murals are very large scale paintings applied directly to walls, ceilings, and other large flat, or near flat surfaces. Outdoor murals are these paintings done on an outside surface.

They are the oldest human art form, as cave paintings suggest, and found all over the world adorning homes, institutions, public spaces, and barns. A huge variety of artistic styles are incorporated in the mural painting, but all have one thing in common; they incorporate a large sense of scale that the artist has to be able to paint a complex scene that is readable up close as well as some distance away.

One of the greatest mural painters that I know, or rather just plainly 'the greatest artist that ever lived, is Michelangelo. Granted, his mural painting (Sistine Chapel) was just a smidgen of his talent, but it is his most famous on the grandest of scale.

Quality quilts have always evoked feelings of comfort, of home and family. Quilting is a tradition not so much as a reminder of days gone by, but a vibrant part of community life of any day.

Grandmothers still sew quilts for grandchildren; quilters still gather together and share patterns as well as gossip; family members still cherish these quilts that were made. In the past, quilts warming a bed, grace a couch or just flap on a clothesline, but now with the the 'Kentucky Quilt Trail,' quilt paintings patterns now adorn the sides of weathered barns and other buildings.
